How to Manage Your Time for Success

HOW TO MANAGE YOUR TIME AND YOURSELF FOR SUCCESS

It can be difficult being your own boss if you have never worked for yourself before.  You’re probably not quite sure where to start – so you fumble around trying to figure out what to do next.

You work on one task after another as they “come up” and usually you don’t finish any of them. If you are working from home it is easy to get interrupted by the phone, the TV, the kids, and a bunch of other stuff.

At the end of your session you may feel as if you did not accomplish anything.  And you probably didn’t.

What a waste of time!  Don’t let this happen to you.

Planning what to do, and managing your time when doing it, is critical when running any business.

YOU must do it for your business. A simple schedule of the daily tasks that you need to do is invaluable.

Creating that schedule could be the single most important task you do to start effectively managing your time and yourself.

I suggest you schedule a day and time, right now, to work on creating your schedule. Then do it!

Don’t worry about the format, or how it looks, nobody is going to see it but you anyhow! And don’t worry too much right now about what you should put on the schedule.

It will change, and develop, as you learn more about your business. Just make sure you create some kind of schedule to get you, and keep you, on track.

I have a printed schedule of all my daily tasks posted to the wall above my desk. I follow it faithfully.

It lists the time I get out of bed, watch my mind movie, eat breakfast, walk the dog, shower, post to forums, etc.

Even though I know it by heart, I still glance at it when I feel myself straying from a task. It gets me back on track and
keeps me focused on my objective.

I also use a monthly pocket calendar, that I keep with me at all times, to record items that I do not do every day.

I write notes to myself on the calendar and record important “must attend” events – like my daughter’s soccer games.

An online calendar or day planner may work better for you. That’s for you to decide. But I have found that having that
schedule stare me in the face every day is a great management tool.

There are still seven days in a week and 24 hours in a day. Schedule your tasks accordingly – and stick to your schedule. Don’t be too rigid on the time allotment though.

You don’t know how long a certain task will take until you actually do it. So allow for adjustments. At first you won’t even really know what tasks to do.  That’s ok. Start with what you are doing every day now.

Write down what time you wake up, what you do next, then next, and so on and so on through the course of your day.
You may be surprised at how poorly you have been managing your time.  Develop your schedule.

Schedule the tasks in a logical order and then start doing them. Focus on productive tasks and how you can do them more efficiently.

And if you are still learning about Internet Marketing – as every smart marketer should – then be sure to schedule LEARNING as a task on your schedule.

But be specific about what aspect of Internet Marketing you plan to learn during that time. The more you do it – the better you will get at it.

Get into a routine. It gets so much easier when you know what you are doing and feel comfortable doing it. But you will never get to that point if you do not follow a system. You will keep running around like a chicken with its head cut off!

Try to work on your online business at the same time every day. If you have a full time job then you need to schedule the tasks for your online business around your job.

You will gain more confidence when you actually start completing your tasks and begin making real progress. It really is easy once you get into a routine and things start clicking for you.

And its great being your own boss.

You get to create and set your own schedule and you have the freedom to work from wherever you want.

I’m not sure where you are in your online money making business right now. But wherever you are, make sure you
set up a routine, stick with it and keep learning.

It will pay off!  The Internet is a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon.

“Regular” folks from all over the world are making more money on the Internet than they ever dreamed possible.

If you are smart enough to get in now, and make the effort to learn how to leverage the reach of the Internet, you could reap incredible rewards for years to come.

“The more you learn the more you earn” really does apply here. That is the power of the Internet.
